Happy 10 Month Birthday Sunny Kay

Sunny turned 10 months old yesterday! And yes, I am one of those crazy moms that will recognize each month for the 1st year. ;-)

She's changing so much! She is really getting more expressions on her face and looks at you now like she understands you. She has wants now too and she'll let you know!

I'm bummed this picture is blurry, but I love this big smile! She now has another tooth on the top, but it's not entirely visible just yet.

Along with waving "bye bye" or "hi" now, if you ask her to give you a kiss, 50% of the time she will. That's if she feels like it. (rolling my eyes). Here I asked her to give puppy a kiss and she did! She actually likes kissing puppy everytime. Oh, and the kisses are open mouthed. Cousin Airen used to kiss like that too.

InTENSEly playing her Barbie guitar.

She actually just woke up and has a little "bed head."

Playing by herself well. I love to watch her.

See how she really plays the drums herself! Uncle Jimmy will be proud! (He's a drummer)

Here's another different looking face for her. Can't remember what she did. She looks older, doesn't she?

Playing again on Mommy. She's starting to let go of things while she's standing.

Atkinson Cousins Family Reunion 2009

The Atkinson family (Laura's side) got together in her hometown of Mexico, Mo for a few days over the weekend. It was great to get everyone together to meet the new babies, visit, go fishing, grilling and just share our lives in great company.

Sunny was a little overwhelmed with the people. She does better in smaller groups. It just took her awhile to get used to everyone. She did have her wild and crazy cousin Airen (19 months old) to help her break the ice. ;-)

Bottom row (left to right): Dorrie & Airen Atkinson, Nancy Decker, Tony Washer, Chad Beardslee, Kathy Atkinson, Gayle Bybee, Rodney, Sunny & Laura Wright.

Airen Adam Atkinson ( 19 mo) & Sunny Kay Wright (9 mo)

Airen giving Sunny a kiss. Sunny looks a little reluctant....good girl!

Here's Sunny's "I don't want to" face.

I love these little britches.

Aunt Ruthie snuggled on Sunny and helped take care of her! Thanks Aunt Ruthie.

Aunt Dorrie squeezing her cheeks.

Nana made sure and gave Sunny lots of love.

I finally got a pic of Aunt Kathy holding Sunny! Aunt Kathy is a little nervous about "little people." ;-) We'll practice next time too Kathy!

Airen is taking a break on Sunny. He's little more active than Sunny and she took it well. She just went with the flow.

Uncle Jimmy and Sunny posing. During our stay, Jimmy wanted to thrash Sunny and rough her up a bit, but she pulled out the pouty face for him alot, so he let her go. Sunny better watch out for next time though - Uncle Jimmy likes thrashing!

Wild and crazy Uncle Joe with his wild and crazy son!

This picture was taken in 1973. This is Jimmy holding Laura!

We tried to re-create this with Sunny 36 yrs later!

On Friday evening, we all went fishing out at the farm.

Sunny wasn't too afraid of the fish, she even touched it!

Airen walking on the dock holding Uncle Jimmy's hand.

A very naked Airen filled up the pool for he and Sunny.

Sunny thought it was a little too cold, plus Airen wouldn't stop splashing.

A happy girl by the lake.

The Atkinson Family - Joe, Dorrie & Airen

Here are Airen and Sunny pausing for a little din din. I love watching them interact.
Grandpa Jim keeping Airen from falling off the boat. An airplane flew above so, Airen is acting like an airplane as you can see in the picture with his arms straight out.

Grandpa Jim taking the Grandkids for a ride on the tractor. Sunny wasn't too excited. See how she's holding on for dear life to his shirt? Needless to say, we only got this pic then Mom saved her. :-)

On Sunday - Nana, Sunny and Mommy went to the pool. We had fun and Sunny loves the water. She even blew bubbles in the water once!

Sunny also learned how to wave bye bye! See in the video.

Walker, Kansas Ranger?

We've been waiting to see if Sunny wants to walk anytime soon. She's pretty active and strong as she cruises around the furniture or what ever she can get her hands on. Today she started crawling funny on her hind legs. It looks like she can walk, but prefers crawling. She looks like an orangutan! See this video.

So after this, we thought, maybe she can walk better than we think? So, we went out in the yard and tried it. To our surprise, Sunny has pretty good walking control!! She hangs on to your fingers as a crutch, but is on her way to getting pretty darn close to walking we think. She seems to not really care how she gets somewhere and since she knows how to crawl, she does that. Everyone says it's all over for us when Sunny learns how to walk....well, we thought it was "all over" when she started crawling.... and it's not. It's only the beginning. ;-)

This weekend, we also went to Columbia to a dear friend's wedding (Rusty Brett). Sunny was a good girl and didn't scream too much. She likes to hear her high pitch voice a lot of the time. ;-)
She actually was a trooper because she wouldn't take her afternoon nap when we got to the hotel, so she was up from 1pm -9pm! Needless to say, she slept the whole night really well and got up at her usual time, 6am. Here are a few pics.

Daddy making her laugh ... he does this a lot in case you haven't noticed. ;-)

Mommy & Sunny

Riding in the car. Sunny did really well. We finally hooked up a DVD player in the car and she watched Einstein videos from Nana & PePaw. She loved it! Thanks Nana & PePaw!

The hotel also had an indoor pool that was open 24 hrs. So when Sunny got up at 6am, she had her bottled, then we all went and played in the big pool. Sunny has never been to the "big" pool yet. She really liked it. Daddy slowly put her in it and she started kicking immediately. See the videos below.

Yes, she threw up her breakfast after this. oops ;-)

This is a pick I took today after we got home. I just love her expression here.

The "end" to a good summer weekend. hee hee

Happy Birthday to Grandma Carol on June 7th! We went over to her house for cake and ice cream and Sunny was upset because Mommy ran out of puffs! For all you who don't know what Puffs are....they are a delcious snack for babies that are learning to eat on their own. Sunny has a serious desire for these tasty treats. So much that we can't give her any before dinner or she won't eat dinner. They are strickly an "after dinner" dessert now. ;-)

Here Grandpa Denny is giving Sunny one of her last puffs. Everyone else got cake and Sunny got Puffs (the blueberry ones) ;-)

I caught her yucky face on film! She loves to stick out her tongue and blow! She gets quite the kick out it especially when Mommy and Daddy do it with her.

Chewing on her book. She STILL chews on everything! No new teeth yet though. Just still the two bottom ones.

Here's a clip of how she plays now days.

Happy Girl

Hello world, it's me! I just had my 9 mo check up and I'm 18lbs 2 oz and 27.5" tall! I'm in the 50th percentile for height and weight now.

Sunny always makes me laugh and we love seeing her personality emerge. Funny story: Sunny has a piano in the shape of a cat. Attached to the piano is a microphone. She loves to turn on the music on the piano and punch the keys. The other day, Sunny was playing by herself while I was in the other room. All the sudden I hear this from the other room and I couldn't stop laughing! She had figured this out all by herself!

Here she is in her own little world just playing and talking. I love to just watch her!

Look at this.....seems like she knows what a book is!

Her cousin's Olivia had her 1 yr old birthday party last week. Here are the two of the playing in Oliva's pool of balls.

Here's little miss thing feeding herself on the kitchen floor. She's getting better at learning you have to tip the bottle up for the milk to flow.

The other day we went to Playtime through Parent's As Teachers at one of the elementary schools. Sunny was the youngest there. There was a 10mo old girl, but she was already walking and wouldn't sit still. Sunny was the only crawler. We sat her in the middle of the room while all these other kids were running around. She was pretty entertained just watching them. She had her serious face on and it took her about 30 min to get use to everything going on around her. Maybe next time she'll want jump in a little more. ;-)
