Nana & PePaw Visit in Mexico, MO

This past weekend, Sunny and I headed out to Mexico, MO to visit Nana and PePaw. Sunny slept pretty much the whole way to Mexico. We arrived Thursday night at 7:30pm (just in time to see American Idol results, whew) and since Sunny had slept on the drive, she was up until 10pm!

On Friday, just the girls went to the mall for a little "girl fun" day. We went shopping mainly for Sunny for an Easter dress. We had a great time and Sunny had fun watching everyone and giggling at other kids in the mall.

Sunny finally got so tired, we just leaned her little seat back and asleep she went!

Nana with her little sunshine!

Nana is going to see Sunny on Easter, but she couldn't wait to give Sunny her Easter presents! Here she is ready the little lamb puppet book she got her. It's so cute, you stick you finger in the middle of the book and you move it while you read. Sunny liked it...she wanted to chew on the lamb. ;-) Nana got some cute outfits for little Sunny too. Stay tuned to the blog to see when she wears the outfits! They are adorable!

Sunny is showing Nana her "Who Loves Baby?" book.

While Mommy would get ready in the morning, Sunny would play in the bathroom with Nana! Sunny is starting to have some serious seperation anxiety. Mommy can't leave the room a lot of the time. In order to get her to stay here with Nana, we had to get her involved with a toy and then Mom would slip out.

Nana getting Sunny ready for bed which is a routine of putting on lotion, diaper, jammies and brushing our teeth!
Sunny seemed to make herself right at home in Nana's highchair. She loved watching TV all weekend because she doesn't get to watch it at home!

We also made a visit to one of Mommy's good friend's (Dawn Randsell's) Grandma. Mrs. Hazlett had made Sunny a beautiful Holly Hobby blanket, so we went over to personally thank her. Mrs. Hazlett couldn't believe how heavy Sunny was! Sunny has to be around 17 1/2 lbs. now we think.

We also went to visit Sunny's Great Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Tony. The separation anxiety really kicked in at their house. Sunny was scared of Uncle Tony and all he wanted to do was love and kiss on her. We were there for 2 hrs or so and by the end, she finally let him hold her without crying! Yea!

We watched part of the MU/UConn game at their house too. We put Sunny on a blanket so she had a front row seat in front of the big screen. Here's how we thought her thought process was working that day ....

"Oh boy, this is a pretty intense game. MU better win or Nana will be upset and I don't want my Nana upset."

"Oh no! Quit fouling them MU!"

"Yea, MU just tied the game! Go MIZZOU!"

We went to church on Sunday and Mommy was nervous that Sunny was going to be too loud. I didn't want to risk her crying for Mommy in the nursery, so we just sat in the back row with easy access to jet if she started getting loud. She was a happy and AWAKE girl all through church so there were a few "girl happy screams" during times.
During the children's time (kids come to the front of the church for a story) Sunny thought it would be funny to try to "talk" louder than the speaker! She was telling a story and Sunny was belting out some loud cooing! It was funny.
PePaw finally got her to sleep. Unfortunately this was toward the end of church, so then after church, people came to see her and she was conked out!

We had to wear a winter coat because it had snow about an inch the night before!

Sunny Crawls On Her 7 Month Birthday!

Yes, Sunny did it! Another milestone on a birthday! She rolled over on her 4 month birthday, then today, she started crawling on her 7 month birthday! See the two videos below as examples of her crawling skills.

HAPPY 7th MONTH BIRTHDAY TODAY!

Crawling is going to be nice for the fact of if she drops a toy or wants to get something, she can get it on her own without me having to sit with her and help her. The bad thing, of course is she can get into everything! And boy is she at the very curious stage!

Here she is with her jingle ball. Yes, it's a cat toy, but she loves it. If you shake it, it makes noise (it has a bell in it) and she likes that.

She's looking in the mirror making faces. In the video below you can see how she is talking to herself in the mirror and making funny noises. She didn't know I was watching, until the end. ;-)

"I wanna bang on my drum all day" Seems like the homemade toys are a hit! Mommy has been saving up tin cans... they make great drums!

Sunny and the crawling Pooh Bear! She got Mr. Pooh from her cousin Olivia for Christmas. Pooh sings and crawls and asks baby to crawl with him. She was scared of him at first, but now she thinks he's pretty cool. And now, since she can crawl too, her and Pooh can crawl all over the basement together! Maybe Pooh will teach her not to get into things! ;-) Ha

Weekend and the "Flop Crawl"

On Saturday, Daddy had to work, so Sunny and I ran errands. We bought some baby gates because we think Sunny is just days away from crawling! See the video below as we call this the "Flop Crawl". Does it count as crawling? I don't know. It definitely counts as going from point A to point B, that's for sure!

On Sunday, we went to church with Grandma Carol. Here Grandma plays with her while Mommy gets the diaper bag ready to go to church.

It's been 1 week since the first tooth appeared. Now you can actually see both teeth! I think they look like little gerbil teeth with their cute little ridges. hee hee

In the afternoon, we went to Waterworks Park in Olathe to walk around the lake. Grandma and Grandpa Wright met us there and walked a ways with us.

A little toe snack.

Mommy steals some kisses by the lake.

I love this little onesie because the cute little bottom on it!

"Little" Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Oh look, Brian and Rodney playing together!

Tina, Brian and Carmen came over to the Wright house on Thursday for some dinner and a chance for the girls to play. Since both girls can sit up really well (they're only 2 wks apart in age), it's fun to sit them next to each other to see how they interact. For the most part, they just checked each other out, but it's cute. See in the videos below.

Watch them play nice here.

In this video, listen how they both "talk" at the end when I ask them a question!

Sunny Plays

Mommy can just sit and watch Sunny for hours playing. I love to watch how she discovers something works. Here are some video and pics of her playing. (Oh yea, Sunny got her 2nd tooth yesterday!! It's right next the 1st one!)
Here she is in full concentration on watching this wheel spin. I love how she has her hand positioned on her legs!
Here she is playing tic tac toe on her activity block.
Here she is trying to call Nana to tell her she's excited to see her next weekend.
She LOVES Mom's BlackBerry. Everytime she see's it, it's like holding back a wild dog to get her to stop fixating on it. So, Mom thought what a great tool to intise her to crawl. So far, it's a great motivator.
Another crawling motivator is a tin can! It makes a neat noise when you bang on it. See in the video below how Mommy helps Sunny crawl to the tin can.
Here she is playing with her blocks. Watch how she almost falls over, but does a great job catching herself.
She really loves books! The Dr. actually told us that's it's SO important to read to babies for at least 5 minutes a day. It has been proven by the American Pediatric Board that it improves the baby's ability to learn. Watch how excited she gets with this particular book!
I love this pic because of her socks. They are so long and her legs are so short that when you pull the socks up, they look like little school girl stockings! Cute, huh?

Meeting the Bass Family

On Saturday, we went to Raytown to visit Sunny's Great Grandma Gloria. While we were there, Sunny's Great Uncle Bill, Great Aunt Debbie and Cousin Kelsey came over to meet little Sunny. Sunny was all smiles this time and was especially interested in Uncle Bill's moustache!

Uncle Bill meets Sunny.

Miss Kelsey who is getting ready to graduate high school and attend Missouri S&T in Rolla in the fall, was a little nervous to hold a baby, but she did great. Sunny was gentle. ;-)

Great Aunt Debbie and Sunny.

And to top the visit off before we left, Sunny gave kisses to Great Grandma "Sunny style".

When we got home, we went for our family walk. We are now that family you see with 1.5 kids and stroller walking down the street admiring the other houses and lawns that sometime make an occasional stop at the park down the street. ;-)

Sunny Got Her First Tooth!

Sunny has only been eating an ounce at a time over the past few days and is up a lot during the night. Not to mention the constant drooling and wanting to put everything in her mouth. She's also started puckering her lips which we now think is because her little gums hurt. On Saturday she was chewing on Momma's hand and BAM!...Momma felt something sharp! You can't see the tooth just yet, but you can sure feel it. The arrow below is pointing to where the tooth is.

Here she is with her dinner toys.

She likes this dinner toy the best I think. Tonight she discovered she can cover her mouth and make noises and it sounds different. See in the video below.

Like her lovely broccoli face? She has now started to stick her hands in her mouth right after taking a bite of food. Therefor, eating has taken on a whole new look! Hence, the "broccoli face."

Here is her tired broccoli face.

We also, for the first time this weekend heard Sunny say, "Da Da"!!! Daddy thinks she said "Ma Ma" on Friday, but she's been saying a lot more of "Da Da Da Da." She also let everyone in church this morning know she can say "Da Da". I'm sure her friend Carmen can attest to this! In the video below she starts to say the "Da Das" but then just ends up playing with her tongue. We'll post some more video of all her new sounds later.

Here she is all worn out from yelling all the Da Das in church, so she fell asleep in Grandma Carol's arms.

My Sunshine

We went to church on Sunday while Sunny got to wear her "My Sunshine" outfit from Grandma Carol.

Sunny has been eating lots of different fruits and vegetables and so far she likes them all! She's still not sleeping through the night. Mommy still hasn't figured out how to get her to not wake up. She takes a 6oz bottle before bed, then wakes up approx 7 hrs later for another bottle. She will make sounds in the middle of the night like she's playing in her crib and then she will finally put herself back to sleep. Then she wakes up around 6:30am/7am and plays in the crib again until we come get her. She usually lets out a big yelp every few minutes kinda like saying, "Hey Mom and Dad, I'm awake if you want to come get me now!" I love how excited she gets when we do come in her room to get her. ;-)

Here we are on our Sunday afternoon walk. It was very cold again, so we bundled Sunny up! Gloves, hoodie, sunglasses, ... the works.

Rodney thought she looked so cute just sticking out from Mom's body while she walked.

Sunny also makes this new sound with her tongue. It's kinda like a clicking sound. If you do it first, she will try to immitate.

And here she is before dinner time. These are her dinner toys she plays with while Mommy gets her dinner ready. (Daddy usually gets Mommy's ready during this time) ;-)

It's cute to watch how she plays with them. See how she almost pokes herself in the eye twice!

Sunny's Low Rider

This is just one of the fun, family pass times we like to do on a Saturday afternoon!

Our little Buckaroo

For the past week, Sunny has been getting up on all fours!! She doesn't know how to move her arms and legs yet while being on all fours, but it's coming! Yesterday was the first day she started "bucking" on all fours. This is what Vicki (our Parent's as Teacher's lady) told us Sunny is doing when she rocks back and forth on all fours. See in the video below.

And yes, she did throw up at the end of this clip, sorry.

Here she is having fun in her exersauser.

And she continues to have a foot fetish. Vicky says this is good that she has discovered her toes.

"Must eat toes."

"Are you sure you don't mind if I eat my toes?"

"Daddy's sunglasses are cool."

Feet Must Taste Neat

Sunny is starting to do these cute little mannerisms. She's now discovered her toes and LOVES to chew on them! Trying to change her diaper is becoming a major challenge because she wants to grab her feet!

"Did someone say toes?"

Exhibit #1

Exhibit #2

Exhibit #3

She also gets SO excited out of the blue. See in the clip how she lets out a big SURPRISE scream! You might want to turn your volume down for this one!

Sunny also likes to hold her breath! She acts like she is suffocating for a few seconds, then lets all the air out in relief and then giggles! We asked the Dr. about this and he said this is a common thing for babies do and if she starts holding her breath for over 30 seconds, then we should be concerned. Until then, play Sunny play.

Every couple of days, Mommy needs to cut Sunny's nails. We usually do this after her night, night bottle when she has fallen asleep. This way she is still. Mommy had been using an old flashlight to try to do this, but for Valentine's Day, Daddy got Mommy this super duper light to attach to a hat! The light is very precise so Mommy can see exactly what she's doing as to not cut little Sunny. Daddy took a pic of it and look how neat it turned out.
