Crib Playtime

In the evenings, we've been putting Sunny in her crib for a little while so she can play. She loves her musical worm and likes to roll around. She squeals and has lots of fun! You can see from the pics and video below.

Look how strong she is!

This seems to be her "new face". It's like a REALLY big attempt at a big smile! ;-)

I like this pic because it so close, it's like you're in her world.

Peek-A-Boo! Looks like we might have to pull the railing up a little bit now that she's moving around a lot more!

In the video below, she really trys to reach up to the fish tank. It's so cute to watch her try her hardest! I was so proud of her!

She also likes to shake her hips! She ALWAYS does this on the changing table, so it's becoming quite a challenge to change her! Tonight, she was "gettin' down" in her crib

Check this expression out!

Exersaucer Fun!

Just recently we've been putting her in her exersaucer she got from Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Kathy. She seems to really like it! She can barely touch the bottom of it, but it won't be long before she's bouncing away in it!

More Carrots Please!

We think Sunny likes carrots just fine. Mommy even tasted them and thought they were pretty good! They are actually sweet. hummm....

Here are some clips of Sunny eating carrots.

Sometimes when she takes a bite of them, she shakes her head like she has the chills. It's so cute and funny! See in the clip below.

I also love the faces that she makes while eating.

She's also got this cute, gummy grin now. Watch her give it to me while eating.

Watch her wimper in this one. I wasn't sure why the cry, but it was so cute.

Happy 5th Month Birthday Sunny!

Today, Sunny is 5 months old! We celebrated with a full day of activities. We went to church in the morning, visited friends in the afternoon and went over the Grandma and Grandpa Wright's house for dinner.

For Sunny's birthday today, she got to try her first vegetables. We went with carrots first. The whole family watched in suspense to see the reaction on Sunny's face whether or not she was going to like it. See the outcome in the video below.

Carrot face Sunny.

GIRLS IN THE HOOD
Olivia was over at the Wright's house too. This is Sunny's 2nd cousin who is 2.5 months older. We love putting them together to see how they interact. This time, Sunny was a little more receptive and even smiled!

This is what you get when you try to make two babies hug when they don't know what they are doing. ;-)

Splish Splash I Was Takin' A Bath

Sunny loves bath time and now she's getting too big to sit in the infant mesh seat that supports her in her little tub. So, now she sits in her tub like a big girl. This however allows for more mess as she kicks her legs and gets Mommy all wet!

Saturday

Sunny was a happy girl this morning when she woke up at 7:30am. She's still eating in the middle of the night once, but at least sleeping until 7am or so.

Mommy has gotten her guitar out lately everyday to show Sunny musical instruments. She's very intrigued by it and always giggles, laughs and kicks when Mommy attempts to play. Mommy only knows a few chords, but wants Sunny to know about music. Daddy has fun too trying to play, "Daddy Style" which basically consists of just crazy, no tune, strumming. It doesn't matter to Sunny, she loves all of it! See a the clip below.

Sunny and Daddy stayed in the house all day because it was VERY cold outside. Mommy got to go out and run errands though...you know the typical diapers, wipes, food, etc. When Mommy got home, a lot of the Wright family came over to visit. Here are a few pics.

Raise Me Up

Sunny has been getting better each day with her cold. We went to the doctor and she gave Sunny an antibiotic and it's been helping a lot. She still has a little cough, but it's finally going away.

Last night she finally learned how to raise her chest off the ground when she's doing Tummy Time. This is one step closer to the crawling process. It cute to watch all her parts and how she trys to use them together. She wiggles her hips back and forth, then she pushes up with her hands, then she sticks her butt in the air and puts her knees under her. Of course this isn't all done at the same time or she'd be crawling!

Look how excited she is here about her new discovery!! I think this has to be the most rewarding thing to a parent so far...watching your child learn something knew and be so proud of themselves!

Cereal Killer

Sunny has still been eating cereal at dinner with us all week. She's really getting the hang of it! She's like a little birdie waiting for her worm. For her 5th month birthday this weekend, we'll be trying vegitables! Wahoo!

Sick Sunny

Our little Miss Sunshine hasn't been feeling so sunny lately. She's had a mild cold since Christmas, but this past week it has gotten worse. She's developed this awful sounding cough and runs a low grade fever at night. Maybe part of it is teething (who knows), all we do know is our poor baby doesn't feel good. On Sunday, Mommy ran out to get all sorts of home remedies for babies with colds. See the pic below. Sunny looks a little nervous about it doesn't she?

After the home remedy administration, Sunny slept in Mommy's arms practically all day! She woke up for an hour or two here and there. She would play a little, but we didn't want her to play too much because she has developed this wheezing sound in her lungs and when she gets out of breath, it gets worse.

So, on Monday we finally took her to the doctor. Mommy was off work for MLK day, so this worked well. The Dr. says she has some pretty bad congestion, so she gave her an antibiotic to take along with Robitussin.

Here's what her little cough sounds like....

Here she is waiting on the table like a good little girl...

In the pic and video below, you can see how Daddy tried to make a sick Sunny smile while waiting for the doctor.

Visit with Grandma Gloria

We also went over to visit Sunny's Great Grandma Gloria in Raytown Saturday. Sunny was good this time and didn't leave a poopie diaper at Grandmas. She was a wiggle worm, but Grandma knew just how to handle her.

Girlfriend Day

This past Saturday, Sunny had her friends Carmen Link and Brooklyn Martin come over for fun girl, baby play! The Mommies had a good time too! ;-) Amy also came over to play with the babies. Here are some pics from the day.

(left to right) Kristen and Brooklyn Martin, Amy Talley & Mr. Polar Bear, Laura & Sunny, Tina & Carmen Link. Amy felt the need to hold a baby too, so we incorporated Mr. Polar Bear. ;-)

Here are the 3 girls so close in age. Just like their Mommies who grew up together.
Sunny (4.5 mo old), Carmen (4 mo old), Brooklyn (3 mo old)

Here Sunny and Carmen play.

Sunny also started this new thing of arching her back today. There are now two things she does like a gymnast...she points her toes (haven't gotten a pic of that yet) and now she likes to arch her back like she's doing a back bend!
We took this pic today. I think it's so sweet. Look at the tear on her right eye. This is from her little cold she has.

The Next American Idol?

Mommy worked from home today and Daddy was off, so he kept Sunny here at home. Sunny didn't sleep well last night. She still has that awful congestion and has now started coughing more. Mommy was worried about her all night, so Sunny slept in her car seat (upright) next to Mommy and Daddy's bed. ;-) Her congestion though hasn't seemed to hinder her singing ability as we discovered in her today! She has discovered this really high pitch sound and seems to love it. Check it out in the video below.

Aunt Janette and Uncle Beia stopped by to visit little Sunny and bring her some cute shoes. They always bring Sunny cute little gifts!

Here are some other favorite pics from the day. (Mommy will have to admit that this pic REALLY looks like Daddy's baby pics!) AH!

I Wanna Put On, My My My My My Bunny Shoes...yea

Last night, Sunny finally slept 10 hrs for the first time in 3 wks! Whew, Mommy needed that.

Tonight it was just Sunny and I as Daddy has bowling every Wednesday night. Sunny and I had a little dinner, took a snooze in a chair and played all while she wore her little bunny shoes. hee hee. I think they're so cute and they really do keep her little feet warm in our semi-cold basement.

Check her out checking out her bunny shoes. She was grabbing at them, not gracefull might I add. ;-)

Don't you just want some of your own? hee hee

Open Wide

We've been practicing with Sunny at the dinner table. We will take a bite of food, then she does. She really focuses on Daddy when he eats. (probably because he's very dramatic about it) ;-)

See in this video how she know what the spoon is for and what to do when you want the spoon. She's already getting the "pouty look and cry" down too. :-/

Grandma Carol got Sunny a little red "old time" phone yesterday, so after dinner, Sunny called her to ask her if she'd come visit her soon.

After the phone call and playing with Mommy and Daddy, she was worn out. Daddy gave her a bottle, but she couldn't even finsh it because she was like a rag doll.

Bearing Weight

Sunny's personality is really changing lately. She doesn't just want to sit in her chair to be entertained anymore. She wants to get up, sit up and spit up! Lately she likes bearing weight on her legs. Her legs are getting so strong. (probably from all this kicking she's done since she was born!)

Check out this clip of her smiling at herself in the mirror. She loves looking at herself and cooing at the mirror!

Here she is finally getting tired.

Nice Day in January

It reached 60 degrees here this past Friday, so we wanted to get Sunny outside in the sunshine! We were only out for a few minutes and the sun was very bright, so we had her wear her shades. Here's a few pics from the adventure.

Here we are on Saturday and the weather was quit a bit colder, so daddy had to put on her stocking cap. Of course he always likes to make us all laugh, so this is how he put her hat on. Like always, it never bothers her and she always giggles at him when he's giggling at her.

Here's a cute clip of our pretty happy baby!

Let's Eat!!!

We gave pumpkin her first rice cereal for dinner today! It was so fun to watch and see what she would do with a spoon. She picked it up pretty well! She actually got really excited about the whole thing. You'll see in the videos below.

Her first "bite".

Still trying to figure out how the tongue fits into the whole process.

Video of her first spoonfuls of rice cereal. Yum.

Watch here how excited she gets!

4th Month Dr. Check Up

Sunny had her 4 month check up today! She did very well like she always does for the doctor. She gets so comfortable on the table that she goes to sleep! You can see how drowsy she's getting the pic below.

She was given 2 shots today in each leg and she was a trooper. She screamed right after for about 1 minute, then she was fine. We had given her tylenol 30 minutes before, so she was out like a light for an hour afterwards. When she woke up, I thought she might hurt and be drowsy, but nope ... she got up to play with mommy and daddy for another hour!

Sunny now weighs 15lbs 2oz and measures 25.5". She's 90% for height and 80% for weight. This all indicates she's a health, growing baby!

Dr. talked to us about solid food and gave us the green light, so we'll be trying cereal in the next few days. I'm hoping it will help Sunny sleep better at night because lately she gets in the middle of the night and of course Mommy is getting worn out. Sunny is reminding Mommy of those newborn days. icky.
