Chewy

Have you met my friend "chewy"? Her real name is Sunny Kay! Since Sunny has discovered those hands....they don't come out of her mouth! Her poor little right hand is red from her chewing on it. We try to take it out, but it goes right back in. Rodney even caught her thumb in her mouth a few times today! Ugh oh. See in the video below her constant chewing routine.

We also got our first snow her in KC last night. It only snowed 1", but it stuck. Here's a little snowman that Mommy built. Since it was so cold and Mommy is still getting over a cold, we all stuck around the house yesterday and today.

This is what happens when Daddy gets bored around the house. Since Sunny has been going #2 a lot lately, Daddy thought he would just start poddy training her. Silly Daddy.
This is also what happens around the house when Mommy is taking a nap. hummmm
Sunny holding her own bottle already?
Just lounging around.

Here she is waking up from a nap. She was very giggly when Daddy went in to see her, but then he got the camera out and she got a little shy.

Here Daddy is showing her the texture of the Christmas tree.

Is this a the cutest, orneriest grin or what?

Progress ...

Since Sunny's recent discovery of her hands, she can't seem to get enough of them! She discovered the right hand first (does that mean she's going to be right handed?...humm), she ALWAYS chews on it. It's her new toy!

She's also starting to notice toys that I put in her hand. See the video below as she looks at her rattle and sees it's in HER hand.

Remember how Sunny HATES Tummy Time? Well, since she's finally building the muscles in her neck and getting stronger....she likes Tummy Time now! She will stay on her belly for longer periods of time. I think she likes the new view. She even is smiling now while on her tummy. It's so cute when she sees herself in the mirror....she giggles and smiles at herself!

She also loves her gloworm from Aunt Janette and Uncle Beia. She will just stare at it. I can tell, she's almost ready to reach out and grab him! It won't be long. See in the pic that she's concentrating on him pretty hard as her eyes are crossing!

Here's more Tummy Time on her playmat. Mommy was trying to get a video of her rolling over, but she's not ready to do that again yet.

Who Stole the Turkey?

S
Sunny had a great Thanksgiving day with all her relatives on the Wright family side here in Olathe. We went over to Grandma Carol and Grandpa Denny's house where Sunny was held, kissed and hugged a lot. She was feeling much better today, so she gave a few smiles here and there. Usually she likes to observe everyone and then when she feels comfortable with you, she'll smile. The above pic, she is carrying the left over turkey home.

Here she is with Mommy in her Thanksgiving onzie. It was also Mommy's birthday on Thanksgiving, so Sunny gave Mommy extra kisses. ;-)

Aunt Janette always like to scoop up Sunny and carry her away to kiss and hug on her when ever she sees her.

Below, is Sunny with her Grandma Carol and Great Grandma Doris. This was her first time meeting Doris. Doris thought Sunny was a "beautiful baby". Of course we beamed in delight.

We had so much fun watching he two babies play together. We layed them down next to each other and Sunny wasn't too amused, but Olivia was excited and wanted to touch Sunny and take her binky! Olivia is 2 1/2 months older than Sunny, so she's grabbing things while Sunny is still learning.
We thought their little feet were so cute! Sunny has tiny feet people say....I guess that's something from her momma since she looks like daddy!
Here's a short clip of them playing.

You can see poor Sunny was getting upset because Olivia just wanted to play and touch her all the time. I can just see Sunny saying, "Mommy, she touched me!!!...Waaaaa."

I love this pic of Daddy and Sunny.

And finally, our little miss sunshine was pooped out by the end of the day.
Happy Thanksgiving and to all a good night!

Sunny's 3 Month Birthday

Sunny is 3 months old today! She celebrated with some milestones ... she just discovered her hands and rolled over for the first time! Of course I missed getting the "first times" on video. When she discovered her hands, she was on the changing table all giddy. She held her hand straight up in the air (her 'power to the people' pose) and she looked right at her hand and got an interesting look on her face like, "wow, I think that's connected to me!" So, she slowly brought her hand to her mouth and watched it ALL the way there! It was so awesome watching her discover!!

She also rolled over today! We had her on our bed, I put her on her belly so she was facing the tv (she loves the tv, so we need intisers to get her to do things) and she lifted her head up and slowly leaned to the right and PLOP, she fell over on to her back! All seriousness aside...I think because her noggin weighs so much it pulled her over! We laughed, but we definately are counting it as her "first rollover"! Great job Sunshine!

Daddy also helped her celebrate with a little birthday dance with Daddy.

Daddy also likes to have fun with his little girl all the time... here he is making her do advanced human things...like he always does. ;-)

There's a little downside to baby Sunny's birthday .... we went to the Dr. yesterday because she broke out in a rash and her face was very splotchy. She always rubs it too. Dr. says she has Exzema which is a dry skin condition. She'll have to monitor this as she grows up, but most kids grow out of it. Her poor face looks aweful because she had rubbed it raw and now has an infection called Infantigo! AH! It's contagious, so she couldn't go to daycare the rest of the week. Thank goodness Mommy was able to work from home today to be with her and Daddy got home early to help too. It was tough juggling work and tending to her, but Sunny was SUCH a good girl for Mommy. Mommy discovered she LOVES cartoon network. I HATE putting her in front of the tv, but Mommy had to do what she had to do. You can kind of see her rash on her face in the pic below. It looks worse in person, thank goodness the camera is kind.

BTW... we got her weight at the Dr. too...Sunny now weighs 14lbs 6oz!! Guess were going to have to move up to size 2 diapers!

Another Sunday

This past Sunday we went to church and Sunny was such a good girl like always. Grandma Carol held her tight while she stared at the lights. Here's a pic of Sunny and Mommy before going to church.

Daddy also practiced sitting up with her in the afternoon. She's getting so much better at holding her head on her own. It's funny to watch because if she wants to look at something that's not directly in front of her, she trys to look up and turn her head, but it's so wobbly. It's cute how she trys to focus when her head is wobbling!

Here she is practicing Tummy Time. She's starting to get a lot better about it and stays on her tummy longer.

My Grandpa Denny & Grandma Carol Renewed their Wedding Vows

This past Saturday, we had a big family event as Grandpa Denny organized a renewing of their vows as a surprise to Grandma Carol. There were lots of tears and smiles from everyone. Sunny wore a pretty green dress for Grandma Carol. Sunny didn't share too many smiles that day, she was getting over the tummy flu, but she was a trooper. Here she is with her grandparents and her cousin Olivia who is 5 1/2 months old.

Sure looks like her Daddy here, doesn't she?

Gloworm

Sunny had an okay day at daycare. She was very tired this morning when I dropped her off, so she was drowsy when I left her there. Becky said she slept 10 minutes then woke up screaming! I think the drastic change of environment from home to daycare was not good for her. She woke up and didn't know where she was! My poor baby. I was able to pick her up a little early today since Mommy worked from home, so we got to spend some time together going for a walk and playing. Here she is in the front pack carrier, obviously out like a light!

Uncle Beia and Aunt Janette stopped by to bring Sunny a little gift....a Gloworm! It's a cute little stuffed toy that sings lullabys while it's face lights up. Sunny was very intrigued by this little creature. She seemed to really like it. You can see this in the pic below. Thanks Uncle Beia and Aunt Janette!

2nd Day at Daycare

Today was a better day for both Sunny and Mommy. Mommy didn't even cry once today! I took a bottle over to daycare and fed Sunny there which made me feel better. When I picked Sunny up, she gave me a big smile when I saw her! That's what Mommy was waiting for. That makes me feel like Sunny is doing okay. We came home and played a little before going to bed at 8:30pm. It's hard to keep her up because she's so tired. Here's Daddy feeding her night night bottle.

First Day at Daycare

Mommy had one of her hardest days so far as a Mommy...dropping Sunny off at daycare. Mommy swears Sunny knew what was going on. Sunny just looked Mommy in the eyes really hard before she left like she knew I was leaving. I lost it then. I shouldn't have even wore mascara to work today. Sunny's report from daycare was good. Becky (our daycare provider) said it's going to take her a while to get used to other babies around and hearing them. When Mommy picked up Sunny after work, Sunny looked a little frazzled and didn't smile until she got home and I put her on her changing table. Then we played for a while. Sunny was pretty pooped from the day, so the rest of the night consisted of Mommy just holding her, staring at her, smelling her and kissing her while Sunny nodded in and out.

Other Mommies promise me this gets easier. I can only pray.

Grandma Loves (and spoils) Me

We started off the day by putting on a new shirt from Sunny's Grandma Carol before we all headed off to church.

Sunny loves the music at church. Today, Daddy was helping her dance to the music. See video clip below.

After all that dancing, she was worn out!

After church, Grandma Carol and cousin Kalie played with Sunny. Here is Kalie helping make Tummy Time fun for Sunny!

Mommy and Sunny also put up the Christmas tree today! I knew she would love the lights, so I wanted to get it up early, but not rediculously early. ;-) Sunny read the directions to Mommy while Mommy put the tree together! They made a great team!

After the tree, Sunny took a little nap. In this next video, I sneaked in while she was waking up. I just love when she wakes up. She looks so innocent and adorable.
Our friend Wayne stopped by to meet Sunny today. Sunny felt safe in his arms for at least a little while before fussing because she was hungry.

And to wrap up the day, Daddy and Sunny watched the last Nascar race of the season! Mommy goes back to work tomorrow, so she was glad that the day was filled with lots to do so Mommy didn't have time to stop and cry. :-(

Rah Rah Sis Boom Ba

Here's our little cheerleader in the making! Her personality is really starting to develop and we're having so much watching it.

I love this cute little innocent face while she's doing Tummy Time. She still hates it and can only tolerate a few minutes at a time. We usually have to place something she wants to see in front of her so that she will lift her head. Today it was the mirror while Grandma and Grandpa Wright watch.

Here she is smiling for Grandma Carol.

This clip is so cute. She looks so frustrated and looks like she's trying to tell us something! I wish we could figure it out! I'm thinking maybe it's a release in tension? You know it's tough being a little baby! ;-)

Here is another clip of her "new thing" of blowing bubbles.

She gets so excited on the changing table. It doesn't matter what mood she's in, if you put her on the changing table she gets SO excited. Here's a small example of it.

What's All This Rattle?

Mommy has been working with Sunny to notice objects and learn what they are. Today, I held the rattle in front of her and moved it back and forth while she followed it. Then I put it in her hand so SHE could move it. I'm not really sure she knew what she was doing, but it was pretty cute to watch. :-) See the video below too.

The Wright family came over for a visit tonight. Aunt Janette loves to just squeeze Sunny and hold her tight! Thanks Aunt Janette for feeding me!

Sunny looks a little confused, but she loves her cousin Kalie.

Uncle Rodney helping Kalie play a spelling game on the computer.

Kalie and her dad sport their new cool "Ed Hardy" shoes! Mommy Laura has been so out of touch with the world that she had no idea these were the new cool thing.
