Halloween 2008

Sunny was pretty fussy today I believe from the traveling we did the past few days. But, that didn't stop us from putting on our cute Halloween outfits from our friend Ruby!

Sunny doesn't seem so excited about Halloween this year. Maybe because she can't go trick or treating yet.

Here's her "scaredy cat" face though. She thought it would be fun to be "Friend the cat" for Halloween!
Sunny also did a little "Thriller" Halloween dance for Mommy and Daddy! See the clip below.

Mommy loves this outfit! Her litte shirt says "I love my Mummy". hee hee

Today, Sunny started holding her arms straight out in front of her when she gets excited. She used to hold them to the side. She looks like a cheerleader doing some moves!
We sat out on the front porch and handed out candy to the kiddos. Sunny was amused by all the commotion.
We did go by our neighbor's house to say "trick or treat".

First Visit to Mexico, MO

While Mommy is still off work, we decided to take a little trip to Mommy's hometown, Mexico, MO to visit Grandparents. Daddy stayed behind to work and bring home the bacon for us.

It is normally a 3.5 hour drive, however it took Sunny and I 4.5 hrs because I had to stop and feed her. She was a good girl on the drive there. Half way there, we pulled over at an abandoned gas station (thinking it would be more private there) and I gave her her bottle. Then I had to change her diaper (oops) and didn't know where to do it! I forgot that the back of the car was filled with our suitcases so I couldn't lay her in the back to change her, so I had to do it in the back seat with the door open in 45 degree weather! There was about a 2' by 2' area to change her, so it was crammed. She was so cute because while I was changing her, I was talking to her and asking her if she thought Mommy was crazy and she smiled and giggled at me! She made me laugh hard. In the pic below she seems to look a little scared to go on the trip as Mommy must admit she was a little nervous traveling herself for the first time with the little one.

When we got to Nana's house, Nana hugged and kissed on her and couldn't believe how big she has gotten! Nana hadn't seen her in 1 month. Nana, of course, got lipstick on her and Sunny smiled and cooed for Nana. See in the video below.

Pee Paw Don, was a big help to Mommy because he would take care of her while Mommy took a shower or got a bottle ready. Thanks Pee Paw!

Mommy's Aunt Liz (Sunny's Great Aunt) came over to visit and meet baby Sunny. They had a great time playing together!

We also went to visit Nana's work (Pilcher's Jewelry) for everyone to meet Sunny. Sunny started getting fussy, so our visit was short, but sweet.

On to Grandpa Jim and Grandma Barb's house we went. Grandpa Jim had fun playing and holding Sunny. We also discovered that Sunny (just like her baby friend Carmen) really likes fans! No expensive toys for Sunny....household objects do just fine! Check out the video and see what a trance the fan put Sunny in!

Mommy helped Grandpa Jim with some computer issues, which left Grandpa having to feed Sunny. He did a great job and was very gentle with her. He does still refuse to change a poopy diaper though. ;-)

Who's That Girl?

Another great 8 hour night happened last night with a little bump in the road at 1am. I heard her squeal around 1am, so I went to her room and she was thrashing her body around with her eyes closed and letting out little squeals. She had the blanket that I wrapped her tightly in, ripped off her and covering her head! Yikes. I re-wrapped her and gave her binky and she didn't even skip a beat and went right back to sleep. whew.
Here is a video of her this morning. This is usually how she is when she wakes up in the morning. It's so nice to greet her in the crib like this.

After she eats, she pretty much ALWAYS gets the hiccups! Here she is trying to play and talk with the stupid hiccups getting in the way!

She smiles several times a day now and always smiles at Mommy or Daddy when she hasn't seen them for a little while or when they tickle her.

WHO'S THAT GIRL?
I was playing around in photoshop and thought I'd lay these pics out side by side. What features do you think Sunny has of Mommy and Daddy? It's fun to look at and of course Mommy likes to show this picture so people believe she's Sunny's Mommy since everyone says she looks so much like Daddy! (Below: Laura, Sunny, Rodney)

Sunday, October 26

Sunny has been consistently sleeping at least 8 hrs every night! Wahoo. She goes to bed around 8-9pm and gets up around 5am. She'll go back to bed for a few hours after that. We are excited about this as this is the start of a pretty good routine before Mommy has to go back to work. :-(
We had a pretty laid back weekend. We did take Sunny to her first Mexican restaurant (Mi Ranchito) on Saturday and she kept her eyes open the whole time in the car seat just observing everything. Then later that evening went for a walk with Daddy through the neighborhood.

Today, Grandma Carol came over and we all walked to church together, including Daddy. Sunny slept the whole time in Grandma's arms!

After church, before the temp was to drop 20 degrees, Sunny and I went for a walk. She's getting so big for my front pack carrier now!

Mommy bundled her all up because it was windy today!

In the clip below, Daddy "propped" little Sunny up after her afternoon feeding to help her not spit up. She looked so cute and so human, Daddy had to get a little video clip!

Sara & Co. Visit

Sunny slept 8 1/2 hrs last night and then another 4 1/2! She slept until 9:30am this morning! I was excited to actually sleep in! I just love this pic below. She's practicing Tummy Time in the mirror.

Here she is zonked out and holding on for dear life because she's in her glider that moves side to side.

Our dear friend Sara and her 2 daughters drove all the way from Mountain View, MO (5hrs) to come visit Miss Sunny. Sara was so excited to squeeze her and love on her! She got tired of seeing everyone hold her on the blog that she wanted to come do it herself! We were excited to see all of them too. Here is all 3 of them showing Sunny a Baby Einstein video. Grace is 6yrs old and Sophie is 13 months old. Sophie was particularly interested in Sunny and thought she was one of her baby dolls, consequentially we had to keep little Sophie pretty far from Sunny. :-)

Sunny was a little fearful in the beginning, but she warmed up in the end.

Sara was excited to give Sunny a bath and Mommy was excited to learn good bath techniques from an old pro.

Here we are after bath time, primping and getting ready for bed.

Wednesday, October 22

Sunny slept 6 hours last night and then slept another 3. She had good naps today which I was excited about. I just stuck to putting her in her crib for naptime and she would put herself to sleep. whew.

When she got up this morning, she was much more verbal and was making all kind of cooing/goo goo sounds. Check out the clips below.

In this clip, you'll see the many faces of little Sunny.

Here's the "hiccups" video.

This afternoon, our cousins Betty and Calayne came over to visit little Sunny and brought her a few gifts! They gave her a couple of cute little outfits and this cool, personalized plate! Thanks Calayne, Betty & Diana!

Tuesday, October 21

Sunny slept 8 hours last night which was very nice, but she tossed, turned and grunted all night. This made for a very tired Sunny today. It was a fight to get her to take a nap all day. Daddy was off work today, so we went to the bowling alley to watch him practice. This is how we got her to take a semi-nap. :-)

It was pretty chilly here today, so we put a little stocking cap on her and we laughed pretty hard because we thought she looked like a thug and was going to break out in a rap!

Sunny is starting to like Tummy Time a little more since we've been creative with it. I think she's getting excited because she can lift her head higher now to see things. Today, she laid on my stomach to do Tummy Time and she raised up and smiled at me! I was glowing with joy and cheering her on!

Sunny Slept

Last night, Sunny slept from 9pm to 7am!!! That's 10 hours! I guess since Sunny is 8wks old TODAY, she thought she'd better grow up and start sleeping all night. :-) Of course Mommy kept waking up every hour wondering if she missed her cry or something was wrong with her. But no, she didn't hardly move in the crib all night. She was "sleeping like a baby". Hee hee. I'm anxious to see what tonight brings. I have to admit that I kinda missed seeing her all night, but I really needed the sleep.

Daddy got off work early today so we all took a trip to do some Walmart shopping. While Sunny was staring at all the bright lights in Walmart, she managed to get a hold of her binky. She doesn't grab objects yet, so it was funny to see how she "accidentally" got her fingers wrapped perfectly in the binky so she looked like she meant to do that. Check it out below.

Our neighbors, Kenna (below) stopped by with her Daddy to visit little Sunny. Kenna says she's used to holding a little baby since she has a 3 wk old cousin. She can't wait for Sunny to grow up and play with her. Kenna's birthday is also tomorrow as she turns 10. Happy Birthday Kenna!

Sunny Sounding Sunday

CHURCH

Sunny had a weird sleeping schedule last night. We fed her at 8pm and then she tossed and turned in her crib until 10pm without making a sound. She then woke up for a 3am feeding and then slept until 8am! We were almost late for church at 9am! Grandma Carol and cousin Kalie came over and walked to church with Mommy, Daddy, and Sunny. Here is Mommy with her diaper backpack and Sunny in the front pack ready for the short walk.

It was a little chilly for the walk (50 degrees), so Sunny needed to wear her little kitty cat stocking cap! Hee hee.

Here's her little Sunday after noon "pooped out" nap. And yes, her jeans are too big for her. We know she'll grow into them fast though.
SOUNDS
Sunny is also becoming more verbal every day. I finally managed to catch a few of her sounds on video. It's so cute how she's "trying to talk". She'll open up her mouth like she's going to say something and you can tell she's thinking about it and then she'll make a noise and realize it came from her mouth! This always puts a smile on Mommy and Daddy's face and brightens their day. It makes the times of her crying not so bad after all. :-)

Listen for the inflection in her voice in the next clip. hee hee. It's almost like we can tell what her little voice is going to sound like when she starts talking! Mommy and Daddy have literally watched this clip 50 times!!

Grandparents Visit and Daddy's Birthday

ATKINSON GRANDPARENTS VISIT

Today, Grandpa Jim and Grandma Barb flew up to Gardner from Mexico, Mo to visit little Sunny today and to take Daddy Rodney out to lunch for his birthday. We had a great visit with them. Sunny was a really good girl and impressed Grandpa Jim because the last time he saw her was her birth and she cried a lot in the beginning. Poor baby. She doesn't cry much anymore unless she has a need and Mommy has pretty much figured out what that is. Whew.

Sunny was so comfortable in Grandpa's arms.

Grandma Barb sweet talked little Sunny for a long time and she loved it!

Out to lunch at Whiskey Creek for Rodney's birthday. Sunny slept most of the time although Grandpa tried to feed her a peanut. :-)

Since Mommy is a camera freak, we had to get one last group picture and by this time Sunny was tired of pics. Can you tell?

DADDY RODNEY'S BIRTHDAY

For Rodney's birthday, we all went out to dinner with the Wright family to a favorite restaurant of Rodney's called Jump'n Catfish. Sunny was a little fussy so Mommy had to feed her during dinner. After dinner, we all came back to our house for some of Grandma Carol's awesome birthday cake!

In honor of her Daddy's birthday, Sunny wore her "I love Daddy" shirt.

Cousin Kalie holding Sunny.

Uncle Beia and Sunny.

A kiss from Mommy for being such a good girl all day with so many activities!
