1 Month Dr. Check Up

Today was Sunny's 5 wk Dr. check up. She measured at 21" and her weight is 11lbs 1oz! She has grown approximately 2 inches and gained 2 pounds since birth. Doc says she's right on track. She's in the 90 percentile in weight and 50 percentile in height. She was VERY good at the doctor's office and was quiet most of the time. She even fell asleep on the table! We love our Dr. Morrison. Here she is being good for the nurse.

Also today, it was very noticeable that Sunny can hold her head up a lot more now. See in the pics how high she can hold her head up on the Tummy Time mat and see how she now holds her head up on my shoulder when I burp her! Dr. Morrison says Tummy Time is very important for her development, so bring on the Tummy Time!

Tonight was also bath night! Sunny seems to like it, especially when we pour the warm water on her!

First Time Going to Church

Nana and I took Sunny to her first church service today at New Life Community Church. Daddy had to work, so he wasn't able to go. The church family gave Sunny a basket of goodies and introduced her to the congregation! I thought she would sleep through the whole service, but instead she was mesmerized by the lights and music.

Sunny Meets Her Great Grandma Gloria

Nana and I took Sunny to meet her Great Grandma Gloria Bass and Great Aunt Jennifer in Raytown today. Grandma was excited to meet her and Sunny was so excited she made a poopie diaper at Grandma's house! Grandma made an afgan and a quilt for baby Sunny that she received today. Mommy was very excited about this! Thanks Grandma! And thanks to Jennifer and Lisa for their awesome gifts too!

Kristen's Baby Shower

Nana came to KC to visit this weekend and all 3 of us went to Kristen's Baby Shower today. Sunny was dressed in her Little Lady Sunflower outfit for the occasion. She didn't cry too much, but enough to remind Kristen what her little one will sound like soon! Kristen is due Oct. 29th and Sunny is looking forward to playing with Brooklyn when she is born.

Today, I took Sunny to Walmart for the first time. I wanted to take a picture of us shopping, so I asked one of the employees to take our picture and if you can believe it, they said they don't let people take pictures in Walmart! I was shocked, so you know me, I pursuaded them to let me take one picture to document my little girl's first trip to Walmart. ;-)

I managed to get a short video clip in too. hee hee

Sunny and I also have been power walking with Tina and Carmen lately. They only live 2 miles away from us, so it's fun to get together with them. It's probably more fun for the new mommies!

Sunny's 1 Month Birthday

Today, Sunny is 1 month old. She celebrated by kicking back and watching some tv like her dad likes to do.

Also, Grandma Carol and Grandpa Denny babysat for Sunny while mommy and daddy went out to dinner. Sunny put on a special outfit for the occasion.

First Trip to Target

Today we took Sunny to Target for the first time. We thought she would like looking at the new surroundings, but she slept the whole time!

We also thought we might have seen Sunny smile??? What do you think?

Sunny's First Month

This past month mommy and daddy have been learning how to take care of baby Sunny. Mommy has learned a little more patience than daddy, but daddy holds her so close and kisses and hugs on her all the time.

Sunny Kay's Birth

We had a scheduled c-section in which Sunny Kay was born at 8:09am on August 25, 2008. Nana Nancy and Rodney were allowed to be in the Operating room. Nana video taped the event and did an awesome job of capturing all the moments that mommy didn't get to see. When Sunny was lifted out of mommy's belly crying hysterically, Rodney and I looked at each other and were overwhelmed with tears. I couldn't believe how perfectly round her face was and that she was ours and she was finally here.
